Lips can chap and crack easily, especially during weather change. Having an effective lip balm can help prevent cracking and chapping and soothes sore lips that have become chapped. This lip balm recipe uses moisturizing coconut oil to protect and soothe your lips.
DIY Recipe for Basic lip Balm:
Makes : 1 OUNCE
3 teaspoons grated beeswax
3 teaspoons extra virgin coconut oil
5 drops of your choice of essential oil
Fill a small saucepan with a few inches of water and set it on the stove over low heat. Place a metal or glass bowl over the pan so that it fits well.
Add the beeswax to the bowl and wait until it melts. Then stir in the coconut oil.
Remove the bowl from the heat and stir in the essential oil using a metal spoon or glass stirring rod.
Transfer the mixture to a 1 ounce jar, tin, or chosen container, and allow the lip balm to harden.
The balm may settle as it hardens. Top it off with more melted balm and allow it to harden for 10 minutes before using.
Application: Smooth over your lips, with finger 2 or 3 times per day.
Storage: Store the container in a cool, dark location for up to 12 months. Or toss it in your purse, and it will last for about 6 months.
Note: If you prefer a harder texture for your lip balm, double the amount of beeswax in the recipe.
